Friendly people, a relaxed laid-back way of life, bountiful fresh produce and idyllic towns, villages and beaches define the South Coast of NSW. It is home to some of the east coast’s most scenic and beautiful landscapes. There’s also an abundance of fresh produce, seafood, artisan food products, cheeses and wines.

The unspoilt natural beauty of the southern coastline of New South Wales unfolds in a series of bays and coves. Little townships, many with interesting histories, are known for their fine food and wines, and great country markets. The region offers a magnificent diversity of coastal, forest, mountain and rural country. Its natural environment provides the atmosphere for a peaceful, relaxing or adventurous visit in contact with Australia's unique flora and fauna.

There’s rugged landscapes ranging from Saddleback Mountain just outside of Kiama whose lookout provides a magnificent coastal and rural scenic outlook back to the Pacific Ocean, to Kiama’s famous Blowhole which often draws a crowd. There’s the lush Minnamurra Rainforest and those up into the Kangaroo Valley, to the many miles of exquisite beaches including Seven Mile Beach national park which is home to a wealth of bird and animal life.

There are historic towns like Jamberoo, established around 1820, originally to harvest the rich cedar forests that built much of colonial Sydney. And then there’s Berry the first truly rural town south of Sydney, surrounded by rich dairy country at the foot of the coastal escarpment.

On any weekend there are craft and produce markets being held up and down the coast. Over the past 15 years the Shoalhaven Coast has flourished as a wine growing region. There are over 15 vineyards throughout the region all producing a wide variety of quality wines. The Shoalhaven Coast wine trail stretches over 100kms, winding through luscious green valleys and overlooking some of the country’s most pristine beaches.
